While I’m on the subject of galleries, here’s a few highlights from gallery shows I was in:
At a show I did at the OK Hotel in Seattle, two other artists stood in front of my pieces for a good five minutes, actively talking shit and making fun of my paintings. This was my first art gallery show I’d went to (I’d been in one show prior but didn’t go to it). I wanted to scream at them but I just sat there, not sure if they knew I was the person who made the paintings or not.
At one show I drank an entire bottle of whiskey while eating s’mores. I had not had whiskey before, and was not expecting to get so drunk I couldn’t walk right. I had only recently quit being straight edge, and the dude who ran the gallery thought it was funny. The bus ride home was interesting and scary.
