Population is a super soild goth / deathrock / postpunk band that my awesome friend Jes played synth in.
This track has a kind of updated only theatre of pain era Christian Death vibe, which is to say it is very good.
<3 I just saw this!
(We are still a band! Also we are opening Saturday night of the Blackout this weekend, which means that we are playing the same night as Chrome, which is … what.)
Oh weird I don’t know why I said “played” instead of “plays”! I usually queue up music posts at like 5 am before I go to sleep, that’s probably why!
Population are indeed still alive and you should check them out.

This is a track from a new anarcho punk / postpunk / deathrock / industrial influenced project I’m doing with my friend Faust. I’m doing vocals / electronics on this, and they’re playing bass.
The band currently doesnt have a name but it will soon. I’m hoping to play at least one show before they leave for Florida in a few months, but at the very least we should be able to record an album.
Also we’re both trans* anarchist weirdos, which is neat.
This is really good death rock stuff, starts off kind of cheesy then launches into a kind of manic noisy jam that makes me think of Subtonix a bit. Good stuff!

Classic deathrock / goth jams. This one has more synth work than a lot of their otehr stuff, which isn’t a bad thing.
Christian Death - Deathwish
Early Christian Death is the best. Classic deathrock jams.
One of the weirder 45 grave songs and one of my faves. I love the odd 60s pop style it has. Just pure strange fun.
45 Grave - Party Time
One of my fave 45 Grave songs. Catchy deathrock jams. The main lyrics are so sad and fucked up but then there’s that big ass cheesy chorus and it’s just so weird.
Icon A.D. - Fight for Peace
Solid kind of deathrockish poppy anarchopunk jams with female vocals. Good stuff.
Bestial Mouths - Live at SXSW 2013
Bestial mouths are a really great noisy goth / dark post punk band from California. They remind me a little of Subtonix or Diamanda Galas or maybe Swans in their intensity but they’re a pretty unique group. I got a demo of theirs a few years ago after hearing them on myspace, been meaning to check out more of their work for awhile, it’s really good stuff.
