unfortunately for your lame argument,Punk didnt start in california it began in new york and than England and there were no POCs involved in either scene,the number of hispanics in california was way less than half,and what does the supposed roots of the Music have to do with a discussion about FASHION?btw ALL American Black music has white influences,jazz and blues included.

For starters, I didn’t say punk began in California, I was just
saying that the California scene had a shitload of POCs. You’re right, saying half of the California scene was POCs is incorrect. But it was a lot, probably a fourth or near. Pretty much every bigger punk band from California had POCs. Black Flag, Dead Kennedeys, The Germs, The Bags, etc.

Also, you’re wrong about London for sure. Ever fucking heard of X Ray Spex? NYC had plenty, especially when you branch off into post-punk and no wave: ESG, DNA, Teenage Jesus and The Jerks. I know there were WAY more in both camps.

Saying that punk began in NYC and London is actually a false history
that has been passed around. Those scenes got the biggest and most
hype, but there were comparable things happening all over the world
before anyone had a name for it.

The discussion stopped being about fashion when you said “blacks nd puerto ricans had nothing to do with punk”. Talking about the “supposed” roots of rock music shows you know nothing of the subject. Ike Turner played the first electric guitar, not to mention greats like chuck berry, bo diddley, Johhny Guitar Watson and little richard and the countless other POC musicians who were involved in mixed race rockabilly acts before “rock n’ roll” existed.

Also, you’re dead fucking wrong about jazz and blues having much of any white influence. Jazz originated in New Orleans around the early 1900s with creole musicians playing music loosely inspired by what was left over of their native music and then expanded into an original, complex American music.

And don’t you fucking mention that they used European instruments, it’s not like they had any other option, what with being fucking enslaved and stripped of their fucking cultures and all.

And you’re dead wrong about the blues too man. The roots of the blues are in field chants and spirituals and again, what little was left of original music. I don’t count white people enslaving an entire race of people as a musical influence, maybe you do.

So in short, you are fucking wrong and an asinine motherfucker. Also, POC folk should please feel to call me out if I said anything incorrect or shitty. I’m whitely mcwhiterson, but I fucking love this music.
