Is liking TG nerdy? I mean I literally forget they aren’t a band everyone knows about because they are a very big importrant band in my head.
But yeah this is a perfect song from the perfect album that is 20 jazz funk greats.
Cosey Fanni Tutti - Time To Tell
Really interesting dark synth jams from the legend herself. Don’t know much about this but it’s really good atmospheric dark synth stuff with cosey’s vocals coming in and out, some of it more abstract, some of it spoken word monologues about sexwork and performance. Good stuff!
Kas Product - So Young But So Cold
Kas Product were pretty damn awesome. They predated a lot of styles of electronic music that would later become more popular, from ebm and drum and bass to breakbeat / digital hardcore, as well as the colder synth stuff that was more what some of their contemporaries were doing.
This is a really solid jam, I need to get more of their albums.
Tearist - Headless
Tearist make really great weird synth punk style jams. They seem to get lumped in with the whole “witch house” scene but to me they just sound like a modern take on Kas Product or at times Suicide or something.
Really good stuff. Not sure if they have newer material but they recorded an album that was just live material straight from video people recorded, it was pretty awesome.
Chris & Cosey - Walking Through Heaven
Classic dark synth pop / ebm-ish jams that you probably already know about. I think I don’t have this album anymore, which I need to change.
One of my favorite TG tracks, it’s kind of a precursor to some of the Chris and Cosey stuff that came later, though it has that unique TG weirdness that I adore.
Tracks like this are what make 20 Jazz Funk Greats one of my fave albums, it’s just so odd and diverse. People bitch about it being their most “accessible” record but whatever.
Tubeway Army - Are friends electric?
Classic synth jams.
Cybotron - Clear
Seminal electro jams from pioneers of the Detroit techno / electro scene. Cybotron managed to make some of the funkiest futuristic stuff. Frequently described as if Kraftwerk meant Funkadelic and while not totally accurate i can see that.
